Welcome To The Season of Lent!
Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,
Lent has arrived, seemingly out of nowhere. The rapid speed of days and weeks flying by feels like Christmas was no more than a week ago. This was a sentiment shared by one of my fellow clergy recently and I am tending to agree. Time moves quickly. Lent though is an important opportunity to try and slow down a fraction and take note once again of our spiritual nature and the important place a relationship with God has at the centre of our being. Therefore I’ve come up with a simple anacronym as we journey into Lent in order to take seriously this incredible opportunity as we journey purposefully towards Holy Week and Easter. |
Learn more deeply about our relationship with God
Enter into and explore different spiritual practices e.g. prayer, listening, obedience, stability, balance, humility, hospitality, fasting, giving. Notice how much of our time, talents and money we really give to support others (i.e. God’s mission). Thanksgiving rather than grumbling is key to our continued growth as a disciples of Jesus I pray that we have a happy and holy Lent (and hopefully no lockdowns). Yours on the journey, Fr Ian. |

As we make the Lenten journey, our thoughts are drawn to the cost of discipleship, and our feeble and faltering attempts to live out our Christian convictions. Even though we often fall and stumble, we can know with confidence that God loves us still. -Extract from Colours of Lent pg.1 |
