In 2021 ABM in conjunction with inspired adventures are conducting a trek on the Larapinta Trail in Central Australia of 70km over a week. It is to raise funds for community projects such as providing seeds for Kenyan Farmers, teaching materials for literacy classes in PNG, water tanks and wells and in our own country to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education in Mental Health (Suicide Prevention). It may or may not be something you would consider doing, but you may know of someone who may like to go.

Join ABM as they trek the Larapinta Trail in 2021 to raise funds to create holistic, long-lasting solutions to poverty and injustice. On this 7-day adventure, discover the inspiring wilderness of the Northern Territory as you follow one of Australia’s iconic premier walking tracks. Beginning your journey in Alice Springs, you’ll follow the trail as it traverses the dramatic West MacDonnell Mountain Ranges, surrounded by vast stretches of ancient bush and red desert plains. Whilst the trek can be rocky at times, expect to be rewarded with incredible 360° views of the Red Centre. Along the way, learn about the traditional culture of the Arrente people and see some of their sacred sites, an unforgettable element of the experience. And best of all, with every step you’ll be raising funds to support ABM in their mission to help communities in Australia and around the world to make a new start.

Highlights
• Trek one of Australia’s most renowned walking trails, the Larapinta Trail
• Discover the unique desert landscape of Australia’s Red Centre; wild bushland and jagged rock formations, sprawling plains to breathtaking gullies
• Rest beneath a blanket of stars every night, lulled to sleep by nature
• Raise funds for ABM and help overseas and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities overcome poverty and disadvantage.

The difference you’ll make
By joining the ABM Larapinta Challenge 2021, you’ll be supporting ABM to create holistic, long-lasting solutions to poverty and injustice. All of the funds you raise on this adventure will support grassroots community projects for overseas and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people and communities. This includes projects focused on leadership and empowerment and cutting edge community development solutions to improve adult literacy, food security, water and sanitation, gender equality and social inclusion, and sustainable livelihoods.

• $30 will provide a year’s supply of seeds for one Kenyan farmer
• $130 will provide teaching materials for one literacy class of 25 people
• $2,000 will construct a 5000L water tank providing water for up to 200 people
• $5,000 will support an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leader to gain a Certificate IV in Indigenous Mental Health (Suicide Prevention)

About Anglican Board of Mission ABM is the national mission agency of the Anglican Church of Australia. Their mission is to work with partners overseas and in Australia acting as catalysts for community transformation. ABM works with local and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and overseas communities to make positive life changes all around the world. Their projects integrate a broad range of solutions; from climate change and sustainable development, gender-based violence, the rights of people with disability, women’s empowerment, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leadership and empowerment. All ABM projects help communities to lift themselves out of poverty through the delivery of grassroots, community-driven development, and provide the means and inspiration for others in their communities to do likewise.
